Black Bear

Forest Glen Park neighbourhood, BC

Was with 10yo son at Forest Glen Park, Burnaby, when a resident approached us, telling us a bear was in the area. When we left in our car a few minutes later, we saw a group of residents holding their phone cameras outside the cluster of houses in the cul de sac next to the park. Driving closer, we saw a large black bear in the backyard of one of the houses, rummaging through what looked like bins and other miscellaneous objects inside the fenced backyard. It seemed calm and unaggressive, perhaps looking for food. The residents were taking videos of the bear, but as we were running late we did not attempt to take a photo and left shortly afterwards. Count: 1 Cubs present: Unknown
